I have bought shares in a CSA for three years now and have found that in direct opposition to Franco's comments, the farmer has been OVERLY generous with my weekly share. What should be a $25-$30 box of fresh vegetables and herbs each week often was worth up to $50. But even more than the fresh food I get to eat, I have the self-satisfaction of knowing that I am helping out a local farm family and supporting agriculture in my home town. What would your town look like without rolling fields, pristine woods and the open space that agriculture provides?report abuse

if one participates..i would think you should get a discount...what prevents the farmer from inflating the price at the stand..
