Give Plum Creek a chance.  They own the land and have made a fair proposal.  To offset air emmission they ought to bar recreational traffic, autos, snowmobiles, 4 wheelers etc. from their lands.report abuse

Maine and Mass have almost even unemployment rates 4.5 and 5 respectively. I've lived in Mass and CT, I know the lifestyle of the city. I know and have worked to help the people that live off the system. You can try and make yourself sound all high and mighty, but you are not and neither is MA or CT. They are not different, regardless of the "programs" the states have implemented.

BTW: Take a look at the violent crime rate while you are at it. How often are you afraid to walk down the street in Portland, compared to Boston?report abuse

--Massachusetts ended Welfare LAST CENTURY.
In its place 2 year time limit WORKFARE took over. After two years receipents need to be working some sort of job. Although not perfect alot of former Workfare receipients are now fully employed and without the need for benefits.report abuse

Yet another negative post by Reader - seeing everything as 1/2 empty. You add so much to the forum. Thanks.report abuse
