Skowhegan does this for big meetings...... I do think the only reason to do this is intimidation. Town managers and department heads {yes this includes police chiefs} would do about anything to get what they want. A group standing up at a town meeting were called an unruly mob for not agreeing to what the council and town manager wanted not long ago.report abuse

i think that mr roades is over reacting again. just like in all the other towns hes been in and had to be fired and bought off to get him out of their towns. he's a scared little man who needs police protection to escort him home at night, and like the other selectmen they make bad choices and need the police to back them up. I can remember when we had a citizen of clinton who was a state trooper at the time and attended a town meeting in uniform and had a repermand put in his file because the selectmen felt threatened. so grow up clinton and voice your opinions and get rid of mr. roadesreport abuse

Let me get this straight. They are doing this because of what happen in Missouri where two policemen were shot also so what good did it do.Also by going public with it now it is going to give ideas to all those crazies out there that want to make a name for themselves. The Town Manager could have made that decision without broadcasting it.report abuse

perhaps the most telling, regarding this so called "intimidation" and lack of self esteem by citizens that leads them to feel like villains, is that "news" of this development has taken three selectmen's meetings to be mentioned in the paper.report abuse
