How does the Humane Society fit into this group, Mystery? They certainly do much for animals, and it costs hugely to continue to provide shelter for these unwanted pets. Guess I'd like to hear more about what you didn't get from them to agree with that part of your post.

The United Way? It IS odd: no why's yet. And not only does the United Way NOT fit into the community on a giving basis, but the March of Dimes is the same. Hard to imagine what it requires for one to actually 'get something helpful' from these organizations. Where IS the down and dirty giving BACK to the little guy in need? I'd like to see real proof.

So...how about it? Where IS the proof of the pudding re giving back to communities whose thousands of residents donate funds to these huge charities?

Time for some actual on-paper-in-your-face facts from many of these so-called 'charitable' organizations like United Way. March of Dimes.report abuse

I agree with Leon and Richard. When I needed help, I never got a penny from the United Way. And, the Humane Society has been unfair to me as well. Hence, I never donate to these organizations. I'm a single senior citizen with 2 babies I adopted 14 years ago, and nobody ever gave us one diaper or bottle of milk..when I needed it most! We've overcome many struggles living in below extreme poverty levels for many years, with no assistance. That's in the past, but something I'll never forget, and my experience with so-called charitable organizations has been NOTHING. Charity begins at-home.report abuse
