Maine has always received most of its funding from the federal government. Do you think Maine taxpayers are paying for all the welfare assistance distributed in Maine? Not possible.report abuse

Don't you just love it???
Why do most of the posts from Maine always talk about Federal assistance, State assistance, and/or what are you going do do for us.....The WELFARE state is broke!!!!!! Lets get off the teet and start working toward spending/funding only what is available today, not some dream, like monies from unused Gift Cards. Which Democrat is going to turn the lights off when they leave Maine?report abuse

I think the issue is that this is federally mandated but that the States have to pay for it without federal assistance. In today's economy, that isn't going to be easy.report abuse
