Banking with someone like Kennebec Federal Savings makes it easy. They sent out letters to us customers explaining that we had zero liability on debit card fraud through Master Card services. If your bank doesn't offer that protection then it may be a good time to think about changing institutions.report abuse

You can't put more than $500 a day on it, though. But the bottom line is having a great credit union/bank to back you up. When TJMaxx stores (national) had a similar breach in 2006 or 2007, I knew about it before it hit the paper. My federal credit union contacted me and cancelled my card, immediately issuing me a new one. I don't own a credit card; I use my debit card to book hotel rooms and conduct all my business...report abuse
