I guess we need Winslow residents to let their Councilors know that they are elected to act in the best interest of the taxpayer. Either we call, email, or show up at the meeting Monday!report abuse

The dam in Benton HAS a fish way, but for fish (salmon) to get there - and beyond - all that is needed is EITHER a fish way in the Winslow dam, or removal. Removal accomplishes 2 things: access for fish AND loss of electric power production. If this makes sense, you must live in Augusta, or the District of Columbia!report abuse

High Time for Winslow residents for a Wake-up call.
Maine has lost the Power to regulate Electric Utilities. All this power was granted to the
ISO, The Independent System Operations.
The ISO has an office out of state, and they determine how much to raise the electric rates and from whom CMP will buy the juice from.
Although Maine has enough Hydro-Power for it's customers, Maine will have to pay to build electric generation Plants out of state, to satisfy the demand in other states. Utilities make more money when it cost more to generate electricity. The new system was designed to make
more money for the new aggregators, who ever they are. Will State Rep Fletcher explain this new Scam
to Winslow Residents? Does he have a clue of what is going on? Is he afraid to Rock the boat?
Should Maine Hydro Power be sent to Wall St and then back again to the new distributors?
Anyone with any experience or knowledge of how the
System works would understand why the Dam must come down. Try Enron, who spent some $30,000 in Maine to Lobby for Deregulation, and keep in mind that the top brass of Enron are in Jail for forcing this Scam on the Public. Hello Fletcher!!report abuse

Forrest Gump like eco-terrorists are forcing FPL to do this! In an age of $4.00 a gallon heating oil we are going to get rid of hydro power? Stupid is as Stupid does. For the benefit of a few fish, we are going to get rid of clean power, endanger houses, destroy property values and take a productive structure out of Winslow’s tax rolls. Maybe we should replace the dam with a large oil burning electric plant and take more money out of the pocket of the middle class.report abuse
