Spontaneous Pneumothorax, more easily known as a collapsed lung (why did the writer use all that verbiage?), is fairly common among young males who are tall. At 6'4", the kid is tall.

A couple of years ago, one of the country's top high school milers, Craig Miller, had a sudden lung collapse while jogging around Van Cortland Park in NYC. A couple weeks earlier, he won the PA state title in cross-country. He currently runs 4 minutes for the mile as a standout at the University of Wisconsin and is one of their top cross-country runners (they do 10k in college).

There's hope for this young kid. Good luck with it, Alexis. And start lifting. 164 on a 6'4" frame is really, really thin. You'll need the added strength for your multiple events anyways.report abuse
