I don't know what you earn. For all I know it could be substantially above the average wage here in Maine, (though I doubt that very much), but I do know that what you are paid and the costs of keeping a person in their own home is insignificant when compared to the cost of nursing homes or assisted living facilities. I do hope the State is not so short-sighted as to decrease its support of your profession but rather look to the long term and recognize the invaluable benefit you and your fellow workers provide to society. I hope, despite it's own financial problems, the state increases its support and gives carers the financial and benefit stability they deserve.report abuse
