BAD IDEA all around. I think the people behind this article really haven't thought about what they wrote before they wrote this nonsense. What town has town meeting where there is a public access channel? In towns like Smithfield and Rome, cable isn't an option for many people.

Another issue: voter verification. If virtual town meeting was even remotely feasible, why haven't governments begun online elections? Because there is too great of risk of fraud and tampering.

And think of the demographics at town meeting. Most of the older people don't even have a knowledge of such technology. Many people participate in town meeting as a social function and a chance to get out during the late winter.

The idea of town meeting is great and New England Town Meetings are a treasure- talked about all over the country. This gathering at granges or town halls can not be replaced by technology. Tradition shouldn't break for this sake. I would hope that the small towns that hold town meeting will steadfastly act to preserve the annual tradition and gathering of town meetings.report abuse

Industry High turn out was because of Hackett and his cliche trying to run the town into the ground, but I'm sure with him dead and gone the hairs on the back of our necks have laid back down, we turned out to save our town, Funny have that "group" never got re-elected after they agitated, or it was not that long ago we would have four deputies at the meetings because half the town had restraining orders on the other half, but with that group dead and gone they only gotta send good ole Dennis to protect and serve, been there and can't wait for the next!report abuse

This might not be a bad idea IF the viewer had the ability to ZOOM IN on speakers and see when they might squint, get an eye twitch or start to sweat.report abuse
