I think the “budget committee” would better serve the voters if they simply calculated what each item would mean to the mill rate and let the voters decide what should pass and what should fail.

I can remember time after time when the “budget committee” made recommendations that appeared on the ballot as ‘should pass” or “should not pass” with little or no useful or meaningful evidence or discussion.

The “budget committee” seems to be much more of a political bully pulpit for special interests than anything constructive to the voters.

I’ve always felt it a little demeaning to have “budget committee” pass or fail recommendation on the ballot to help me decide how I want to vote on an issue.

What I vote for effects my taxes which come out of my personnel budget and I don’t feel myself or most voters need to be influenced by a Town committee regarding how and what to spend money on.report abuse
