MAINE'S AGING BOOMERS: Who will pay for long-term care? At this point I really hope I am not around to find out. My concern is who will they hire to do the jobs. CNAs are worth their weight in gold & they should be paid $15-$20 per hour for what they do. Their jobs are backbreaking, demanding, thankless jobs for the most part. Most do it because they truly love helping people & their empathy for the elderly allows them to tolerate the demands of a job that can be quite unpleasant at times. They are a valuable part of the healthcare system & deserve respect & decent pay. Until then these jobs will continue to be difficult if not impossible to fill in the future.report abuse

Pay health care workers a good wage - $20.00 per hour minimum - and good benefits and the problem is solved. A 50% annual turnover is a sign that these jobs are NO GOOD at $11.00 per hour.report abuse
