By the time LD 8 was heard by the Transportation Committee, I had dramatically re-written the proposal and deleted all of the listed provisions, including the reference to rude gestures. The final version of the bill proposed to identify road rage as action which resulted from leaving a vehicle and physically assaulting another driver or passenger. However, the committee members have rejected the proposal. They were not comfortable imposing license suspension when a person leaves a vehicle.
...so it appears, much ado about nothing.report abuse
"Gee officer. I guess the guy didn't see the deer that jumped in front of me. I hope they can get his car out from under the back bumper of my truck soon. I gotta get to work."report abuse
I have also called the police and reported people for tailgating. There is some woman in Augusta that drives a red pontiac grand am. Twice within maybe a couple of months she has been behind me. I always drive about 5 miles over the speed limit but she was still tailgating. She was so close to me that I couldn't even see the hood of her car in my rearview mirror. If I had tapped my breaks she would have hit me, no doubt. Since both times she was behind me I had my 3 year old in the back seat I didn't hit my breaks. I did call the cops and reported her. I was able to get her license plate number when I went to turn and she passed me. I don't know the police ever did anything about it.report abuse
