FARMINGTON -- The Maine Cancer Foundation has awarded the Healthy Community Coalition a one-year, $10,000 grant for cancer prevention and early detection education. The campaign will focus on education for oral, skin, lung, colorectal and prostate cancer, for those of all ages, throughout the Franklin County and Livermore Falls area.

IN WATERVILLE, Saturday at 4:44 p.m., a citizen reported a traffic offense and police arrested a man on a charge of operating under the influence.

An ice jam in the Kennebec River has caused flooding which sent water into parking lots on the west bank of the river downtown. The flood sent emergency and public works crews scrambling. The water rapidly overflowed the banks in Augusta about 1 p.m. today.
